- Commit to a healthy eating plan that nourishes you and your family.
- Plan and shop ahead for meals and snacks. Keep an ongoing shopping list. This is one of the best ways to ensure a healthy diet.
- Close your eyes and take 10 deep breathes at least 3 times a day. Do some shoulder rolls, both forward and back, while breathing, releasing stress and tension from your body. This can be done when you first wake up in the morning, at lunch time or during a work break and right before bedtime.
- Drink purified water. Purchase the toxic-BPA free, reusable water bottle and avoid purchasing plastic as much as possible. We are literally swimming in a sea of plastic and we all need to reduce our plastic waste.
- Exercise four times a week, ride a bike or walk as often as you can. Enjoy your free time and use it to connect with yourself. Avoid reading the newspaper or sitting in front of a screen, while exercising. Listen to enjoyable music, let yourself daydream, breath, relax and reduce stress.
- Buy organic produce, locally grown if possible. It may cost more, however studies show organic produce contains more vitamins and minerals than conventional or GMO grown produce. Food grown with the use of chemicals and artificial fertilizers are toxic and carcinogenic, so you end up paying on one end or the other. Reduce health care bills with prevention.
- Think more positive thoughts about yourself and others. Joyful, happy thoughts produce hormones that keep your body healthy and generate harmony in your community and work space. Negative thought patterns produce stress hormones that overwork your adrenal glands, nervous system and liver. Focus on what you like about yourself and other people.
- Spend time with family and friends. Developing long-term relationships with other people is one of the best ways to enjoy life, health and happiness. Love is contagious. The more you create and give away, the more you will receive!
- Spend time outside in nature. Whether you are in the woods hiking, outside in your garden or going for a walk on the beach, spending time outdoors, breathing fresh air is one of the best ways to reduce stress, oxygenate your body and regenerate yourself emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically.
- Spend some time alone doing something you love to do. We all need alone time, whether it's for enjoying a hobby, meditating, reading a good book, shopping, playing music, exercising...whatever makes you happy will increase your health and build your immune system.
Look for peace, love and beauty in the world and you will find it!
